For anyone not watching, and wondering why I'm blogging when I've already done my bit for the day, it is because of ITV that I come to you now.
Defoe has just scored against Young Boys and in order to do so he used the most blatant and deliberate handball seen since, well, Henry I guess.
Did he know what he'd done? Of course he did, he didn't celebrate until he'd checked no-one had spotted it. I don't care that the Spuds benefited from a handball, I don't care who it was. What I care about is that it was the exact same fuckers who were commentating when Eduardo 'dived.'
It was Beglin and that other muppet who started the crusade against Eduardo which eventually drove him from our club. And how do they deal with Defoe's handball? Do they ask why he didn't own up to it like a good little professional? Did they call for cheating to be eliminated from the game, citing the destruction of our youth from idolising a bunch of over-paid idiots who think it's ok to win at any cost? Did they empathise with Young Boys?

first time commentor ( is that a word) I agree with you, but in repsonse to the other helmuts. Im a football fan and thereofre enjoy watching football even though the YIDA are a poor mans arsenal. I cant wait to hear about how well the yids are going to do now and how close the gap is lol. Eduardo, what a finisher, the only player that gets calmer and cooler the closer he gets to goal. a big shame.

Didnt watch the game, so didnt see the handball (along with the officials and pro English commentators) so Defoe's "crime" will no doubt go unreported in the British press in the morning. No big surprise there. So the Spuds beat the Young Boys and now have to face the Big Boys. Whichever Group they land in, they have to face the reality of Premier League, Champions League, then Premier League football, week in . week out, throughout the Group stage. Couldn't agree more with your point. I'm sick of the media witch hunt against us and the blatant bias. Anything AW says is scrutinised but Redknapp is some kind of hero. Its not good but I'm just sick of all this now. The only way to answer our critics would be to perform on the pitch and win things but that ain't gonna happen and we're all gonna be sitting here at midnight on transfer deadline day wondering how we'll win anything with Almunia in goal. And all the pundits or critics or whatever they are will just keep saying we told you so.

As a Young Boys supporter, I am without words over the handball. Fair, Crouch's goals were alright and I can't argue that (even his third goal), but that Dafoe handball is heartbreaking for me.

We were also ahead in the Celtic game because we had won the 1st leg. They said that Celtic still had a hope if we hadn't got the penalty because a goal for them would have made them think they could still be in it. They said our win was tainted and Eduardo should be ashamed of himself. I remember N'Gog of Liverpool took a dive against Birmingham and they said he should be embarrassed to face his family! Luis Suarez at the WC got punished for what he did; a sending off and he missed the semis, and still people were calling him all sorts in the press.
I just want some consistency. We don't have to witchhunt everyone or anyone. People cheat and/or do stupid things in a game. Refs need help to sort it out. The media isn't helping by being hypocrites.

RE: Eduardo. He had a great deal of sympathy within the media and fans after breaking his leg. He let himself down with that dive in a big way regardless of whether Rooney done it a week later or not.
